We love to grow fruits and vegetables in our garden, but, Sweet Basil is our favorite!

A few years ago, our friend George introduced us to pesto.  We were hooked. Now we grow our own basil, make our pesto and freeze containers of it for use all year.  Our friend Judi loves it too but she lives in Albany and the weather is too cold to get it started. We start Judi's basil each year and deliver her a fully grown pot of basil which she enjoys the rest of the summer. What is pesto? And, what do you do with it? Pesto, our recipe, is basil, almonds, lots of garlic, olive oil, salt and pepper.  When we serve it, we add parmessan cheese. What do you do with it? Lots of things. Make a warm turkey or chicken sandwich on great bread, spread pesto, a little mayo, fresh tomato and lettuce. The bread or roll can also be warmed or toasted lightly. Killer Sandwich!! Stay tuned. A cute little Greek lady told us about Pesto with Orzo or Zitti Pasta ... YUMM!! See ya next time .. from Kitty & Larry
