mas and New Years 2017-18 at Sandy Beach with Larry and Kitty Powers

We bought our Motorhome about 6 months ago Class C Thor Four Winds Siesta 29b.  We have spent that time taking short trips for a few days and getting to know the systems.  We have found that there have been numerous modifications necessary since our intent is, when we retire, we will go full time RV. Since we purchased it, we have removed the convertible sofa/bed to 2 much more comfortable recliners, aftermarket, We have installed 2 165 amp solar panels, removed the 2 12 volt batteries and replaced with 4 6volt batteries which will give our solar more storage....

Sandy Beach works really well for us since its only about an hour from home but oh, so different.  The campground is located on the Sacramento River and is really the fisherman's destination.  We see a lot of boats coming in with trailers and motorhomes.  Every year Rio Vista and Sandy Beach sponsor a huge Bass Tournament and any time of the year you come out here you will see lots of fishing boats coming and going. Fish commonly caught here are bass, salmon, crappie, striper, ....

The camp sites are spacious with all grass and concrete pads, picnic tables and fire rings.  Also the complex has public restrooms, showers and, of course boat launch.  Most of the sites are either hill/pasture or water view.  The area is very clean and well maintained by the Solano County Park Service.  The rangers are so nice and helpful.  We spend a lot of time fishing off the beach, hiking and golfing at Trilogy, very nice golf course.  Yesterday, we went into town and toured the Rio Vista Museum, hosted by Beverly Bellows.  She really gave us a wonderful tour.  Foodwise, restaurants that we have tried are quite good.  The Pizza Factory, Raul's Striper Café and The Point are different from one another but food is very good in all of them.  The picture of the Rio Vista Bridge was when we happened to catch them raising the ,.... to let a boat go thru.  Fun to watch.  Tonight is the last night of this vacation, New Year's Eve 2017.  We are having a fire, some treats and of course champagne to bring in the new year.
